1. Firstly, enlarge the templates; the cup bottle and teapot by 280 per cent, and the two eggs by 250 per cent.
2. To decide how many motifs you need, make several copies (half of them reversed), cut out the individual shapes and pin them symmetrically around the hem. Remove one at a time as you fill in the space with applique.
3. Start with a whole egg. Trace the egg and egg cup onto Bondaweb. Iron the egg onto light stone cotton and the cup onto red or green. Cut out the shapes and removed the papers. Position the cup, tuck the egg under the rim and iron in place.
4. To make the half-eaten egg, follow the dotted lines for the yellow back shell, white yolk and front shell. Position the back shell first, then layer the yolk, front shell and egg cup on top. Iron all the pieces in place.
5. For the teapot, start by ironing on the lid and wide stripes. Then add the narrow polka dot stripes, lapping them over the top edge of wide ones. Next, add the spout, handle and a dark knob.
6. On the cup and bottle motif, start with the top of the bottle, then add the two pieces of the cap, the bottom outline and shadow. Position the saucer, tuck the saucer rim underneath and iron in place. Position the cup and slip its base underneath. Fuse on and finish off with the dark handle.
7. Secure each motif with a round of straight stitches around the edge using matching sewing thread.

This project is truly a labour of love. If your time is limited, decorate just a single corner, or maybe the central part of your tablecloth.
