How do I get my children to be more green?

question

I have been trying harder at being 'green'. We now recycle our plastic bottles - I go through a lot of these each week with milk alone - card and tins as there is an excellent recycling centre close by, run by the council.

Trying to get my children to be green, however is the biggest challenge, with only my daughter showing any enthusiasm. Do you have any hints with getting my boys involved please?

answer

In my area nothing is 'provided' so we need to physically carry the bottles to the bottle bank - the kids love the crashing sound. Also, try getting your kids involved in composting - the best bet is a wormery. (In the book I suggest Wiggly Wigglers at www.wigglywigglers.co.uk.) The kids love stirring up the compost and seeing the worms, so they'll gladly separate stuff out and take it to the compost. My kids went to an educational day at a local environmental centre too and actually are more aware than I am now and they nag me about saving water.

Keep on trying!
