Simple sofa makeover

I'm totally changing my colour scheme. Any ideas about what to do with my sofa so that it fits in with the rest of the decor? Should I have it reupholstered or look for a slipcover?

answer
Reupholstering it will be expensive. As an alternative, find a light-coloured throw in cream, or in one of the other colours you've picked for the room. The throw can be a solid colour, or light-coloured with darker accents.

Then place it at a diagonal over the sofa. Add some light-coloured pillows that match your colour palette to keep a bright feel. Style the rest of your room with accessories in the same colour tones.

Slipcovers are also a solution, but only if they fit properly. Ill-fitting slipcovers can make a sofa look frumpy, like an oversized dress.
