Homemade Christmas wreaths

Forget shop-bought wreaths - get into the Christmas spirit by following one of these fun and easy Christmas wreath projects courtesy of Hobbycraft.

Berries, Bows and Tags Christmas Wreath

Allow: 30 Minutes
Skill Level: Beginner

What You Need:

Plain green wreath
Gift tag punch
Hole punch
Card - green and red
Organza ribbon
Mini red baubles
Gold bells
Glue
Pine cones

- Glue three pinecones at equal intervals around the wreath.

- Glue a group of mini baubles inbetween each pine cone.

- Cut out red and green card gift tags using a punch cutter and write on welcoming festive greetings.

- Tie the tags around the wreath with organza ribbon threaded with gold bells.

Boxes and Bows Wreath

Allow: 1 Hour plus drying time
Skill Level: Beginner

What You Need:

Mache boxes
White spray paint
Green polka dot favour boxes
Red square favour boxes
Ribbon selection
Embellishments
Glue

- Paint the mache boxes white then leave to dry before tying with ribbon.

- Make up the green and red favour boxes according to the instructions then tie with contrasting coloured ribbons and add your embellishments.

- Arrange the boxes in a circular shape and glue the sides together.

Cinnamon and Apples Wreath

Allow: 45 Minutes
Skill Level: Beginner

What You Need:

Red berry wreath
Dried apple slices
Cinnamon sticks
Ribbon

- Tie an apple slice to a cinnamon stick with ribbon and tie onto the berry wreath.

- Repeat with four other apple/cinnamon decorations at equal intervals around the wreath.

- Hang with a length of ribbon.

Frosty Wreath

Allow: 30 Minutes plus drying time
Skill Level: Beginner

What You Need:

Plain wreath
Natural pine cones
Spray paint
Skeleton leaves
Bead crystal shapes
Glue

- Group pinecones into sets of three, then glue to the wreath at equal distances apart.

- Give the wreath a fine spray of paint and leave to dry.

- Add skeleton leaves around the pinecones, sticking in place with glue.

- Finally, bind the bead crystal shapes to the wreath.

NOEL Wreath

Allow: 30 Minutes
Skill Level: Beginner

What You Need:

Natural twig wreath
Decorative papers
Ceramic painted clay stars
Berry picks

- Cut and glue berry picks around the outside of the wreath.

- Using the image as a guide cut out decorative and plain paper stars, holly leaves, 'NOEL' letters and Christmas trees.

- Decorate the wreath with the cut paper shapes, letters and ceramic stars.

Advent Wreath

Allow: 2 Hours
Skill Level: Advanced

What You Need:

Round tin favour kit
Alphamania clear stamps
Black pigment ink
Christmas themed scrapbooking papers
Craft punch 2" circle
PVA glue
Spray adhesive
Hot glue gun
Strong card 12" square
Ribbon - 1m
A selection of sequins, glitter and embellishments

- Use spray adhesive to stick a sheet of decorative paper to the card. To make the wreath base, use a compass or two plates to draw concentric circles and cut out.

- Arrange 24 tins on the card base and glue into position with glue gun. Add the hanging ribbon and ribbon bow in the same way.

- Cut 24 circles of patterned paper. Rubber stamp a number 1-24 to each.

- Decorate the circles with the embellishments and use a tiny amount of PVA glue to secure each circle to the inside of a tin lid.

- Leave to dry before filling with treats and hanging.
