Hosting an Easter Egg hunt

Easter eggEaster Sunday can descend into an eye-popping frenzy of chocolate if you're not careful. One way of prolonging the fun is to organise an Easter Egg Hunt

If all the eggs are opened, ransacked for the best sweets and sampled first thing in the morning, not only will no one feel like eating lunch, but you may also find yourself surrounded by hyperactive humans (adults as well as kids in some cases!).

So an Easter Egg hunt is the perfect way to keep the fun going while hopefully giving yourself a few minutes' peace.

You could plan it for the afternoon so that the chocolate forms part of teatime - and once you already know a good lunch has been enjoyed by all. It's a great way of keeping the children's interest, too, and giving them something to do while you clear away or put your feet up.

If it's not practical to have the hunt on the day itself because you're visiting friends or family, it's something else you can keep as an extra activity for when friends come to visit during the holiday (just keep the prizes smaller and of the non-chocolatey variety! Badges, stickers, play jewellery and other collectables are all great for gathering into small bags or baskets and will please most small children).

It's a great way to combat Easter holiday boredom, too, so you could always plan it for a day when you know not much else is going on.
