If you're growing fuchsias, osteospermums, marguerites or verbena in your bedding displays, take a few cuttings and get new plants for next year
Select non-flowering shoots of healthy new growth and cut off pieces around 15-20cm long to use as cuttings.

Cut away the stem just below a leaf joint leaving the top bit about 10cm long. Take care not to crush the stem.
Trim away the leaves at the base of this top bit, along with any small shoots. Your cutting is now ready to use.
Dip the cut ends in hormone rooting powder to encourage rooting and prevent rotting. Shake off any excess.
Insert the cuttings around the edge of a pot of gritty compost and keep the leaves clear of the surface.
Cover the pot with a plastic bag, held in place with a rubber band. Stand in a warm, bright position out of direct sun.
