Hungry Hollywood
Hollywood's women are turning their bronzed backs on the pressures to stay stick-thin. More and more are realising that a little bit of what you fancy is the best way - tucking into burgers, cookies and pizza as they kick back and relax
Here are some leading ladies who are changing their relationship with food. Gwyneth Paltrow:
'I drink a glass of wine with dinner, occasionally beer and also Guinness.' Nicole Kidman:
'I'm tall and skinny with red hair - that makes me different!' Charlize Theron:
'I love red meat - for breakfast it is steak and eggs.' Felicity Huffman:
'After I had my children, I have to say I like my body a whole lot better' Jennifer Aniston:
'I am a creature of habit. I like Italian food. Or Mexican food.' Drew Barrymore:
'I'm like a corgi - I have very short legs.' Reese Witherspooon:
'Ryan and I cook a big dinner together and stuff ourselves until we feel sick!' Salma Hayek:
'I indulge in all my favourite foods - that is one of my greatest pleasures in life.'
Natural body shape: Tall and slim at 5'9"
Daily diet: Still enjoys plenty of wholegrains and pulses, and prefers food to be organic and in season. 'I like food that is fresh and unprocessed and I try not to eat a lot of sugar.'
Workout: Yoga and Pilates
Food outlook: Once famously fanatical about her macrobiotic diet, she has loosened up considerably. 'I don't have milk or butter because it's not good for anybody but I am a lot less strict than I was' she says. 'I used to have miso soup and oatmeal for breakfast. My diet was very regimented but now I eat what I want.' Her relaxed attitude even extends to enjoying the occasional tipple. 'I drink a glass of wine with dinner, occasionally beer and also Guinness.'
Top treat: Gwynnie likes a trip to the bakery as much as the rest of us. 'Once in a while I'll have chocolate cake,' she says. She also now scoffs wheat and cheese: 'If I'm out, I can't resist Parmesan cheese.'
Natural body shape: Long and lean
Daily diet: Nic loves salads, pineapple and seafoods. 'I eat lots of fish as it's full of nutrition. It is not unusual for me to have monkfish for breakfast, crab for lunch and salmon for dinner.'
Workout: Running or being pushed in the gym by her personal trainer
Food outlook: Nicole has a soft spot for doughnuts and was spotted scoffing a baked potato at a post-awards bash. She unwinds by putting together meals for herself and her two kids. 'Cooking relaxes me,' she says, 'it's the one thing I'm good at around the house.' She makes up for the occasional splurge by swapping some of her meals for healthy and nutritious vegetable smoothies.
Top treat: Chocolate cheesecake. To raise her weight of less than nine stone, she has been tucking into a slice of her mum's chocolate cheesecake recipe every day, to help boost her fat and energy levels - lucky thing.
