I’m writing a book!

By Susanne Remic on 31 Oct 2011 No comments

It’s true. Mothering two children, teaching part time, entertaining the masses with my blogs(!), housework etc etc is just not enough! I need a new challenge. I’m taking part in National Write a Novel Month (NaNoWriMo) and I need your help!

National Write a Novel Month starts on the 1st November and finishes on the 30th, at midnight. This is the deadline by which I am to have written a 50,000-word novel. Gulp.

I’ve been told that informing as many people as possible is one of the best kicks up the butt for this project. You don’t want to lose face, after all. So I took it one step further. I decided to ask for sponsorship, to raise money for a charity that is very close to my heart. So far I am 24 per cent of the way towards my £200 target for the Birth Trauma Association. Wow!

My book will be loosely based around my experiences and so it seemed fitting to involve the charity. I’ve been wanting to raise money for them for a while but could never quite think of anything original or achievable. I can’t exactly climb a mountain or run a marathon at the moment, but I can write a novel...I think.

My goal is to write 1,666 words a day. On a weekend and a Monday and Tuesday this will be relatively easy, as the toddler still likes a two-hour nap. On a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, I am at work, so the writing will have to take place in the evening. This is the only obstacle I can see in my way. But I will overcome it!

This is my chance. This is where I get to do something for me and raise money for the charity that helped me almost two years ago. This is where your support counts.

Please visit my Just Giving page and donate if you can. Any donation, no matter how small is appreciated. You can also text £1: text YLGH51 £1 to 70070. Each and every donation is a kick up the butt and a potential lifeline for women and their families who have suffered from birth trauma. Thank you!
