iVillage UK Women of 2009

We chose the categories and nominees and you voted with your fingers. Here are the winners of the 2009 iVillage.co.uk UK Women of the Year...
Best mother - Michelle Obama
She's the First Lady but she's also mother to Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8. Her commitment to her daughters during Barack's presidential campaign meant she refused to spend more than one night away from them a week, and while she has accepted childcare help in the White House, it comes from her mother, Marian.
So it's Michelle who's president of this category, with a landslide victory over Angelina Jolie and Holly Willoughby, amongst others.
Best dressed - Cheryl Cole
Now here's an interesting one. Cheryl pipped fellow X Factor judge and supposed fashion rival Dannii Minogue to the post by a mere one per cent!
Their 'style war' has received plenty of press attention and divided the nation. While Dannii recently claimed Cheryl has two stylists and she has none, it's Cheryl's daring and eccentric dresses which won your votes, so perhaps the £45,000 a year she supposedly spends on style advice is worth it...
Worst dressed - Katie Price
Hardly a surprise, this hasn't really been Katie's year.
From that gold onesie she sported in Ibiza to her recent Harry and the Hendersons-inspired tracksuit, furcoat and UGGs combo, Katie's split from Peter Andre has visibly taken its toll.
So much for moving on from the glamour-girl image of Jordan. Katie Price? More like Asda price!
Biggest disaster - Kerry Katona
Once the golden girl of the pop world complete with pop-tastic hubby, then queen of the jungle and the family-friendly face of frozen foods, through a long spell as celebrity without a cause to current status as alleged coke-snorting chavariffic has-been.
She's had a hard life, has our Kerry, and with possibly the least credibility of any other celeb, save perhaps runner-up pal Katie Price, things don't look set to get much better for car crash Katona.
Best cougar - Demi Moore
Cougar: a woman in a relationship with a man/men over 10 years her junior
Rrrr! Here's a label Demi Moore doesn't enjoy, but you certainly think she's earned it, giving her almost half the votes.
And rightly so, she's been married to Ashton Kutcher (15 years her junior) for four years and has been credited for the surge in 'intergenerational relationships'. But lest we forget this is a woman in love (with a very attractive young man) and for that, Demi, we salute you!
Best newcomer - Alexandra Burke
Alexandra won 2008's X Factor and has spent 2009 getting her heels well and truly stuck in.
She's enjoyed seven non-consecutive weeks at number one (for the X Factor finalists' Hero, her cover of Halleluja and her latest hit Bad Boys) and made some serious fans in the likes of Beyonce and 50 Cent.
She's also the new face of Dolce & Gabbana. Not bad for a 21-year-old.
Best comeback queen - Whitney Houston
She burst her dress open on the X Factor and appeared 'under the influence' in the interview with Dermot O'Leary, causing the British press to brand her appearance as 'shambolic' and 'weird'.
But we can't deny that with a smashing new single and tour planned, 2009 looks like a return to form for Whitney.
She's still got the moves and is looking fresh-faced and healthy after years battling drug and alcohol addiction. We hope she sticks around.
Best entertainer - Holly Willoughby
Despite having taken maternity leave this summer, it feels like Holly is forever on TV.
As well as presenting Dancing On Ice and The Xtra Factor, Holly this year replaced Fern Britton as This Morning co-host and appears as a team captain in quiz show Celebrity Juice.
She is also due to appear in the upcoming ITV special Cheryl Cole's night in... is Willoughby Wonder Woman?
Best TV character - Marge Simpson
This year was a milestone for The Simpsons, marking two decades of the yellow family gracing our screens.
And matriarch Marge hasn't aged one bit, no wonder then that she beat off competition from the likes of Gavin and Stacey's Ness and Eastenders' Stacey Slater.
In 20 years Marge has gone through many incarnations and despite her role as long-suffering wife and moral guardian she has her vices, including a gambling addiction.
For all her force and all her foibles, that blue-beehived bombshell holds a special place in our hearts.
Most inspirational - Michelle Obama
It's a double scoop for White House wonder Michelle Obama! You voted her most inspirational woman of 2009.
What was it; her earth mother image and role of supportive yet independent wife? Her soup kitchen campaigns? Her natural style? The visits to schools? Her beauty? Her brains?
