John (Pitt; Troy, Ocean's Eleven) and Jane (Jolie; Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Gone In 60 Seconds) first meet in Columbia, amid violent chaos. It's love at first sight and they begin a sizzling affair, marrying just six weeks later.
Several years down the line, John and Jane are an ordinary suburban couple with an ordinary, lifeless suburban marriage. The spark has gone out of their relationship, and they sign up to marriage counselling.
However, each of them has kept a big secret from the other: they are both legendary assassins working for competing organisations. John's agency is low-rent and run with pal Eddie (Vince Vaughn; Dodgeball, Wedding Crashers) while Jane's is fashionably chic and run exclusively by women. John keeps his guns hidden in the tool shed, while Jane has a supply of razor-sharp knives locked in a cache in the oven. On a typical day they set off separately to do their jobs; he to kill several men in the back room of a bar, she to pose as a dominatrix while breaking a guy's neck!
Eventually, the couple are unknowingly assigned to the same case by their competing agencies. They inevitably identify each other and, compliant with the rules in their profession, their next assignment becomes to kill each other. What follows is a bullet-strewn face-off that might just save their marriage - if they survive. Will they both be able to carry out their assignments, and who will get there first?
