iVillage UK names joint sales directors

iVillage.co.uk Appoints Alastair Pinkney Client Sales Director and Kim Turner Agency Sales Director.

October 6th 2001: iVillage.co.uk, the UK's leading women's website, today announced today that it has promoted sales managers Alastair Pinkney and Kim Turner as Client Sales Director and Agency Sales Director respectively. Pinkney and Turner will report directly to iVillage.co.uk's CEO Phil Rooke.

Alastair Pinkney joined iVillage.co.uk in March 2001 as Client Sales Manager. Previously Head of Strategic Planning for Express Digital Media, Alastair brings over 15 years of media experience of working with such organisations as the Daily Telegraph, the Press Association, Scoot and Express Online. At Express Digital, Alastair launched and managed Allaboutparents.com as well as developing sponsorships on SportLive and Megastar.co.uk. Since joining iVillage.co.uk Pinkney has brought in clients such as Ford, Pampers, Flora and Philadelphia.

Kim Turner has been promoted to Sales Director from Agency Sales Manager. Kim was previously Business Development Manager at Channel Health, Sales Manager at Vavo UK, and held key sales roles at IPC Magazines, Northern and Shell, and other leading media companies. Since joining iVillage in April 2001, Turner has helped develop a knowledgeable and experienced sales team who have formed strong working relationships with advertising agencies around the UK. With over 12 years of advertising experience Kim's knowledge of the marketplace has helped her to bring in new and innovative campaigns to iVillage, such as Initiative Media with Persil, and MDigital with Ford Journey.

iVillage.co.uk recently announced that it will act as sales agent for Tesco.com's online media. This allows iVillage's sales team to offer number of advertising packages across both sites, with 'joint packages' exploiting the strengths of each. This joint sales effort allows advertisers to create highly targeted online packages that reach 30% of the nearly 5 million online shoppers in the UK, the majority of whom are women, according to NOP.

"In a tough media environment, Alastair, Kim, and their teams have tripled our media sales in the past 2 quarters. With this team in place and our Tesco.com partnership, we plan to dominate online advertising in the UK", says iVillage UK's CEO, Phil Rooke.
