iVillage UK celebrates unique user growth

Village UK continues to lead the women's market, despite attempts by rival sites to compete.

July 25th 2001: iVillage.co.uk, the 24-hour online resource and community for women, was today celebrating after yet another successful month, with unique users at their highest level yet.

DART figures show that for the month of June 2001, iVillage UK reached 468,000 unique visitors*, over 50,000 more than its nearest rival.

Since launch, iVillage.co.uk has also attracted over 380,000 subscribers to its newsletters, following the success of the "Shape Up Challenge" and editorial themes such as "Why we hate our bodies week". The site has continued to produce unique content, research and thought provoking themes for its diverse community that is unrivalled on the web.

Phil Rooke, CEO of iVillage UK said, "Unlike our competitors, our backbone is our community. There is going to be one hell of a battle for the women's marketplace, but in the US there was only room for one site - watch this space.

"We are unique in this market because our nearest competitors have a 'softer' approach. We are not here to patronise women, instead we just give them real information and the support that they need to get on with their day to day lives."
