Keeping things fresh

The last week has been a strange one work-wise and I’ve struggled to keep track of the days.  Bank holiday Monday then back to work on Tuesday, school closed on Thursday as it used as a polling station, and then back in again on Friday.

This loss of routine has spilled over into my exercising regime on the Wii as well.  I’ve found it difficult to focus and keep going.

It wasn’t till I saw my daughter having a go at the ski jumping that I found myself watching and was soon hooked in again. When she was struggling at the table tilt I muscled my way in and took over. Phew! Little blip in focus ended. Since then I have been on the Wii fit as often as I can.

I have tried to vary the activities to keep things fresh and each week I like to try something new.  This week it was the table tilt that I tried after watching my daughter.  Quite tricky to start with but like all the activities, they do get easier and I can definitely feel my muscles getting stronger.

And I finally made it across the tight rope this week.  Hooray!  And -  my hula hooping skills just keep getting better and better.  I was even eyeing up a hula hoop in a shop this weekend wondering whether to get one and have a go for real.  I’m sure I would be disappointed so I decided to keep my self-esteem high by being a virtual expert at least!

I did have another go at the yoga exercises but find they are not for me.   I prefer the aerobic activities and the fun stuff.  But of course everyone is different and the Wii Fit Plus does cater for all tastes and abilities which is what makes it such a good package.

So after a shaky start to the week, I managed to get myself back on track and trying new activities.  I guess we all have difficult weeks when we lose focus or motivation, and when this has happened to me before, I have just given up.  But not this time.  The activities are such fun it is easy to get back into routine.  So I am looking forward to a ‘normal’ week at work and fun exercise sessions when I get home to ‘destress’.  Bring it on!
