Knit a cable & lace hat

Follow this relatively simple pattern for a cable and lace hat and be well-armed for the cold winter months.

You will need

- 1x100g/173m hank, Art - Tropicana by Colinette Yarns
- A pair of 5mm needles

Measurements

To fit head circumference from approx 20in (51cm) to 24in (61cm)

Cast on 110 sts using 5mm needles
Row 1 *P2, K5, P2, K2; rep from * to end of row
Row 2 *P2, K2, P5, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Rep these 2 rows 3 more times. [10 rows in total]
Start the pattern as follows:
Row 1 *P2, K1, k2tog, yo, K2, P2, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2 and every alt row*P2, K2, P5, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 3 *P2, k2tog, yo, k3, P2, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 5 *P2, K5, P2, T2R; rep from * to end of row.
Row 7 *P2, K2, yo, skpo, K1, P2, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 9 *P2, K3, yo, skpo, P2, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 11 *P2, K5, P2, T2L; rep from * to end of row.
Row 12*P2, K2, P5, K2; rep from * to end of row.
Work the rep pattern twice ending on a row 12.
Continue with the stitch pattern, decreasing 10 sts evenly across every alternate row until you have 10 sts remaining.
Cut the yarn off and thread a large sewing needle.
Thread through the stitch on the knitting needle and pull the yarn tight. With the right side facing sew the seam of the hat.
Secure and weave in the loose ends.
