Stay snug and stylish in the mud and rain with these cute welly toppers. Apart from giving your wellingtons a pretty, UGG-style cuff, these woolen wonders hug your booties against your legs, for extra comfort and less chance of sticks and stones bothering your tootsies.
You will need…
- Stylecraft, Life Chunky Raspberry Marl (2347) 1 x 100g/148m
- A pair of 5mm needles
Abbreviations
K knit
P purl
st(s) stitch(es)
tog tog
yf yarn forward
yrn yarn round needle
Start knitting here
Cast on 67 sts using 5mm needles.
Row 1 (RS): P2, (K3, P2) to end of row.
Row 2: K2, (P3, K2) to end of row.
Row 3: P2, (K3, P2) to end of row.
TWIST PATTERN
Row 1: K2, (p3tog, K2) to end of row.
Row 2: P2, (yf, K1, yrn) to end of row.
Row 3: K2, (P3, K2) to end of row.
Row 4: P2, (K3, P2) to end of row.
Repeat this 4 row pattern 3 more times, ending with row 4.
Continue to work rows 3 and 4 to form a P2, K3 rib until the knitting measures 6in (15cm) from the cast on edge, ending with row 3.
Next row (RS): P2, (k2tog, P2) to end of row.
Next row: K2, (P2, K2) to end of row.
Repeat these last 2 rows until your knitting measures 9in (23cm)
Cast off.
TO MAKE UP
Sew up the side seams and weave in any loose ends.
