Knit Halloween finger puppets

Get crafty this Halloween with these simple finger puppets. Once you've mastered the puppet pattern, play about inventing new characters for any occasion you fancy.
Get the kids involved with the knitting, or let them choose from an assortment of buttons and wools so they can make the puppets their own. This is an ideal pattern to print out and save, you never know when it might come in handy!
You will need
- 4 ply yarn
- A set of five 2¾mm double pointed needles
- Hollowfibre toy stuffing
- Various colours of sewing threads and needle
- Variety of buttons and beads to embellish
- 1 square of black felt
Witch
- Dark green yarn
- Light green yarn
- Dark grey yarn
- Lime green mohair yarn (or alternative for hair)
- Black felt
- Small black beads
Lucky black cat
- Black yarn
- Green sequins
- Tiny pink button or bead
- Black mohair yarn for whiskers
Owl
- Oatmeal yarn
- Light grey yarn
- Medium orange buttons
Bat
- Black yarn
- Small yellow beads
Spooky ghost
- White yarn
- Small black beads
Tension
28 sts and 44 rows to measure 4x4in (10x10cm) over stocking stitch using 2¾mm needles
