Knit pretty in pink angora mitts

You will need

- Louisa Harding, Kimono Angora Pure, Pink (10), 1 x 25g/114m ball
- A pair of 3mm needles
- A cable needle

Abbreviations

inc(s) increase(s)
st(s) stitch(es)
m1 make stitch by knitting into back ofhorizontal yarn between stitches
C4F cable 4 front – slip next 2 sts on to a cable needle and hold at front of work, knit the next 2 sts, then knit 2 sts from cable needle
C4B cable 4 back – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, knit next 2 sts,then knit 2 sts from cable needle
MB make bobble – K1, P1, K1 into next st, turn, (K3, turn) 3 times, k3tog

To make the left mitten...

Cast on 46 sts using 3mm needles. Work 8 rows K1, P1 rib.

Row 1 K23, (P3, K4) 3 times, K2.

Row 2 P2, (P4, K3) 3 times, P23.

Row 3 As row 1.

Row 4 As row 2.

Row 5 K23, P3, C4F, K1, MB, K1, C4B, P3, K6.

Row 6 As row 2.

These 6 rows set the rib pattern.

Repeat these rows along the length of the mitten. Work 16 rows in pattern.

To shape the thumb gusset...

Row 1 K17, m1, K1, m1, pattern to end of row.

Row 3 K17, m1, K3, m1, pattern to end of row.

Row 5 K17, m1, K5, m1, pattern to end of row.

Continue inc as set until there are 13 sts between incs, ending on WS row. [60 sts]

To make the thumb...

Next row K17, inc in next st, K13, inc in next st, turn.

Next row P17, turn.

Working on these 17 sts only, work 6 rows K1, P1 rib.

Cast off in rib.

Cut yarn, leaving 30cm tail.

Rejoin yarn to base of thumb, and with RS facing work across rem of row. [45 sts]

Continue in pattern until work measures approx 5 in (14cm) from beg, ending with row 2 of cable pattern. Work 8 rows K1, P1 rib. Cast off.
