Laser liposuction: how the revolutionary technique works

As technology improves in the world of cosmetic surgery, so do the ways that doctors use to sculpt a person's body to make it how they desire. Many people are starting to try UK laser lipo by MYA - a less invasive treatment than traditional liposuction that delivers great results for those individuals looking to shape and contour their curves in a more agreeable way.

The advanced laser liposuction procedure is performed in a simple manner. First, tiny incisions (2-3mm) are made in the skin and a fine fibre-optic laser is inserted. The laser emits energy and this is used to break down fat cells, melting it so it can easily be removed from the body. This forms the lipolysis part of the procedure; from here, the surgeon extracts the fat by inserting a fine cannula into the aforementioned incision.

The laser is used again to stimulate skin contraction and tightening, ensuring there is no looseness once the fat has been removed. The length of the procedure depends on how many areas are being treated but usually, no more than two areas are performed at the same time. Between 500mls and one litre of fat can be removed at one time and leads many people to undergo the same process more than once.

There are a remarkable number of benefits from laser liposuction. Firstly, only local anaesthetic is needed for the procedure; surgical liposuction requires general anaesthetic. On top of this, there is no need for an overnight stay - the procedure can be carried out in a MYA clinic with ease. Due to its more intricate nature, it is a perfect way to address smaller and more intricate areas, while skin contraction is also a number-one priority with the treatment. Finally, you can resume exercise in one to two weeks after the procedure, making it less disruptive to everyday life.

If you are considering liposuction, look to the benefits that a laser can bring - you may never look back.
