Make: a knitted heart card
Nothing says 'I love you' like an overpriced store-bought card, eh? Show a loved one that you really care while flaunting a little creativity and thriftiness with this cute knitted heart card. And with the money you save you can buy your own chocolates. Take that commercialism!
You will need…
DK yarn from your stash
A pair of 4mm needles
A blank card
Two wooden barbecue skewers
Glue
Measurements
Card front: 4¼x4¼in (11x11cm)
Start knitting here...
HEART
Cast on 3 sts using 4mm needles.
Row 1 and all alt rows: Purl.
Row 2: Kfb, K1, kfb. [5 sts]
Row 4: K1, kfb, K1, Kfb, K1. [7 sts]
Row 6: K1, kfb, K3, kfb, K1. [9 sts]
Row 6: K1, kfb, K5, kfb, K1. [11 sts]
Continue to increase as set until you have 15 sts.
Row 13: Purl.
Row 14: Knit.
Row 15: P7, p2tog, P to end.
Row 16: K1, skpo, K1, k2tog,K1, turn. [5 sts]
Row 17: P2, p2tog tbl, P1. [4 sts]
Row 18: K1, skpo, K1. [3 sts]
Break yarn.
Rejoin yarn for the other side.
Row 16b: K1, k2tog, K1, skpo,K1, turn. [5 sts]
Row 17b: P1, p2tog, P2. [4 sts]
Row 18b: K1, k2tog, K1. [3 sts]
Cut the skewers to fit card (see picture). Slip the sts onto the skewer. Weave in any loose ends and make a small ball of yarn with some of the remaining yarn. Stick to the card.
