Older children will enjoy using adult tools to make this unique cube calendar from matching wooden blocks. Kept on a bedroom desk or bookshelf, it can help them keep track of the day's date.
What this activity will develop:
Maths, physical and art skills
What you'll need: 2 wooden cubes (2½cm sides)Small block of wood cut 7½ x 5 x 2½cmHammerWood chiselPermanent markerPaint or varnish (optional)
What to do:
Print numerals on the cubes. First cube: 0, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8. Second cube: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. (The number 6 is used upside down for the number 9).
Paint or varnish cubes, if desired. Let dry thoroughly.
Place the cubes in the indentation.
How to use:
Turn the cubes each day to show the date.
