Maths Skills: Laundry Sorting
No comments
This is another everyday household task that you can do with your child. It will help your child to learn thinking skills while making this mundane task more enjoyable and possibly even easing your burden. Kids this age love to feel like they're helping. Remember that sometimes doing these sorts of chores with your children will take longer, but they'll be more fun and provide a great learning opportunity for the child.
What this activity will develop:
Maths and thinking skills
What you'll need: Clean, dry laundry
What to do:
Each time you sort the clean, dry laundry, use it as an opportunity for your child to practice sorting. Have him or her match up socks or towels by size or colour. Ask questions such as 'Whose socks are bigger, yours or Daddy's?' or 'How many green towels do we have?' This will reinforce counting and number skills as well.
