Maths Skills: Money Cubes

This easy-to-assemble game teaches children how to add simple sums of money up to a pound. Expand your child's skill by eventually including cubes that represent amounts over a pound as well.

What you'll need:Block of polystyreneCraft knifeTwelve peel-off dotsFine-tipped permanent marker
What to do:
Print a money value on each peel-off label (for example, 5p, 10p, 25p, 50p, 75p, £ 1).
Place a label on each side of the cube.
Rules of play:
Two or more players can take turns rolling the cubes and adding the sums on paper. A player who rolls a value that equals £ 1 gets an additional turn. Whoever has the highest sum of money after three rounds is the winner.
Other ideas:
Create a money centre. Make a list of various money values. Players roll the cubes, add the values in their heads and circle the sums on the list.
