McCutcheon's true colour? Pink
The last few weeks have been, possibly, the most intense; exciting; and exhausting weeks of my life. I've been running here, there and, indeed, everywhere launching not one, not two, but three very exciting projects (which I still can't speak about, and believe me - I want to). In the middle of all this excitement I am visited by a particularly nasty bout of flu. Not the sort of flu Mums get, you know, the kind where one Lemsip enables you to go to work, do the school run, make breakfast, lunch and dinner. No, this was much more akin to full-blown man flu, where there is no alternative but to rest for days on end.
So, confined to my bed, yet still making an attempt to close deals that really could wait a week if I'm honest, I began to feel very sorry for myself. I was missing out on a million parties (and they were going to be the best parties of the year - such is my logic). I was saved from this trip into self pity city by reading the mountains of coverage that Breast Cancer Awareness Month has got during October. Every year I promise myself I'm going to do something - anything - to help this amazing cause. Every year I fall short. I did manage to make it to the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Ribbon Ball earlier in the month (just as the man-flu was beginning to take hold). And I have to say that, aside from the fact that it was a wonderful night, the evening will be forever lodged in my memory for one startling discovery. Now brace yourself readers, I hope you're sitting down for this...
... it turns out Martine McCutcheon is not a bitch after all.

Now, if you never thought she was to begin with, then you've never entered a television studio. The knives were out for her long before her brief spell on the West-End stage. Only last week I was speaking to a very good friend of mine (who shall remain nameless, but who is looking for a presenter for a very high profile show - the current host doesn't know she's about to be sacked so please stop me if I say too much). Anyway, I suggested Martine McCutcheon, not entirely serious, but we were throwing names about. Well, judging from her reaction, you would have thought I suggested an axe murderer. 'She's impossible to work with' my friend said. 'Have you ever worked with her?' I questioned. Silence.
Like I said, I met her for the first time this month, and either she's had the same complete personality transplant that the all new, caring, crying, 'a diva? Moi' Dannii Minogue has benefited from, or her reputation is built on hearsay and rumours. Give a dog a bad name eh readers?
But people aren't always what you expect. For me, despite my insistence that I keep an open mind, I was surprised that Martine was so nice, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the Breast Cancer campaign. I was equally surprised when Brian Bello (former Big Brother Winner) wouldn't give me the time of day backstage at a music festival.
I'll save my naughty and nice celeb list for later in the year (just in case Santa's reading), but for now, from the confines of my bed I feel very very lucky to be battling flu, and not something more serious. So I promise that in the coming year, alongside all the parties, travelling and filming I do for work, I will do something that makes a difference. If Martine McCutcheon can do it, then so can I.

What's Hot
Shopping and raising funds at the same time! It's the tail end of Breast Cancer Awareness month, but you've still got time to buy some fabulous things that raise money for a fabulous cause. I've just ordered a groovy Tote bag AND this funky Cosmetic set from breastcancerawareness.com - they have a great shop full of merchandise. In bed with flu, a laptop and a credit card? This could get messy, readers.
Until next week,
