Merry Christmas!

By Susanne Remic on 21 Dec 2011 No comments

So this is our last Christmas as a family of four, and my last post here on iVillage.co.uk until next year! It feels as though time has flown since last Christmas and so much has happened that I have to keep pinching myself to believe that we really are about to enter 2012!

I never imagined I would be spending this festive season with a new life growing inside of me. I certainly never imagined that I would be writing about it here, either. It’s exactly a year since I started to really believe in my original blog, Ghostwritermummy. A year since I sat down and re-designed my page; I joined Twitter and I created a Facebook fan page. A year since I realised people were reading. A whole year.

This year, Christmas has snuck up on us, truth be told. That’s despite starting all the shopping in September (very unlike me) and planning the table settings at Easter (extremely unlike me). I don’t feel ready, for more reasons than one. It isn’t just the turkey that needs basting and the presents that need wrapping that is causing me to feel a little overwhelmed. It’s the end of an era.

On January 11th, I start my maternity leave after two weeks' holiday from work. I don’t know if I will have a job at the end of my leave. In eight weeks' time, I will be a mum of three.

That’s what’s started my compulsive obsession with calendar checking. That’s the reason why I want time to slow down just a little bit so that I can enjoy these last weeks a little more. The fact that the week before Christmas is so frantic does not help one little bit!

So I’m taking a break. This is my last post until my leave has started and my mince pies have been eaten. Thank you all for reading and have a very merry Christmas!
