Learning to drive
In our quick and easy guide to learning to drive and passing your test, we've assembled helpful information, guidance, FAQ and linksPassing your test
Easy really... you just need to pass two separate tests before you can relax and enjoy the delights of a 'full' driving licence.
First, there's the Theory Test, which is an exam focusing on your knowledge of rules and regulations. Then there's the Practical Test where an examiner inspects your actual driving ability on the public road.
You can take both of these tests once you're 17 and you have obtained your provisional driving licence. But even if you've yet to reach that magical age, you can still prepare for the Theory Test by buying a copy of The Highway Code and other books on driving, and by taking the practice tests.
If you're really, really keen to get started, contact your local driving schools. Many offer theory training courses, as well as 'off road' driving lessons which you can take before you're 17.
