- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 75g wholemeal flour
- 25g wheatgerm
- 125g light muscovado sugar
- 40g poppy seeds
- pinch of salt
- 75g reduced-sugar orange marmalade
- 1 large egg
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 100ml orange juice
- 2 tbsp full-fat or skimmed milk
- 1 large carrot, finely grated

- Preheat the oven to //gas mark Line a tin with American-style muffin cases.
- Sift the flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl, then stir in the rest of the dry ingredients.
- Add all the remaining ingredients and beat well for minutes until evenly mixed. Divide among the paper cases and cook towards the top of the oven for - minutes until risen and firm.
