The making of Hollywood's hottest bodies

Leo, Ben, Russell… one minute they're bulging in all the wrong places, the next they're sporting a body to die for. So how do they do that? Read on…

Ben Affleck

We all know that Ben, a bit 'soft' in his breakthrough role in Chasing Amy, has pumped up since then. But it was his role in Going All the Way that got the actor in what he claims was the best shape of his life and prepared him for the likes of the blockbusters Pearl Harbor and Sum of All Fears. So how did he do it? Running twice a day and lifting weights six times a week, according to reports.

Sandra Bullock

Even Sandra claims to have 'fat days' (hard to believe), but running and light weightlifting keep Miss Congeniality in pageant form. It's good to know, however, that she still hankers after that American treat, raw cookie dough. There's still hope for us all.

Russell Crowe

The wonder from Down Under seems to travel in fitness style these days. If reports are to be believed, the on-again, off-again abs of steel are sculpted in a 48-foot, 18-wheeler gym, stocked with nearly $50,000 of exercise equipment, including weight machines, a treadmill, an exercise bike, a rowing machine and, most recently, a punching bag.

Janet Jackson

A fan of fried catfish and sweet potato pie, this pop diva forgoes her favourites - including anything with butter, cream, cheese or egg yolks - for steamed veggies, baked chicken and salads when she's getting in shape for a tour. Her workout secrets include exercising six times a week (a lot of dance, it's safe to assume) and meditating in both the mornings and evenings.

Ricki Lake

The talk show talent credits going vegetarian with her astonishing 125-pound weight loss. Currently a fan of The Zone, a moderate-carb, protein-rich diet, Lake says that cutting out alcohol, salad dressing and bread, combined with exercising - swimming, biking, running and sit-ups - help her stay healthy and happy.
