Hungry Hollywood
Charlize Theron30-year-old Charlize had to trim down for her role in Aeon Flux, losing a stone in a month by cutting out alcohol, starch and dinner. But she didn't enjoy the experience and prefers to be her natural size. 'It wasn't fun,' she says, 'something strange happens to your body - you just don't feel as strong.'
Natural body shape: Slim: 'I am usually around a size 10, which I love.'
Workout: Dancing; she trained as a ballet dancer. Gentle gym work.
Daily diet: She eats plenty of raw fruit and veg to gain the maximum vitamin and mineral benefits, but balances it with what she likes. 'I love red meat - for breakfast it is steak and eggs.'
Food outlook: Charlize is reassuringly well-adjusted, largely because of her background: 'South Africans love their food,' she says. 'I could live off potato chips! I'm very comfortable with my body. I love cheese, meat, pizza, fries... only now, I try to find a balance between what tastes good and what's good for me.'
Top treat: 'Being South African, my best meal would be a traditional braai - made on a wood fire with spicy sausages, juicy lamb chops, baked potatoes, salads and all the trimmings.'
Felicity HuffmanThe Desperate Housewives star was both bulimic and anorexic in her teens and early 20s, throwing up six times a day and weighing just seven stone. `As an actress, I was never thin enough, never pretty enough,? she says. But now at the age of 43, she has accepted who she is. `I think I've always had a 40-year-old body and now that I'm actually there, I'm like: 'Hey, pretty good, huh?' I love my body now.''
Natural body shape: Toned and lithe
Workout: Jogging - she used to compete at a local level and still loves long-distance runs. She also enjoys tennis and cycling.
Daily diet: On set, the girls get plenty of veggies, fish and chicken from the catering van. Felicity has a balanced diet, for the sake of her family as well as her figure. `We eat well and healthily,? she says. `I insist on it.?
Food outlook: Meeting husband William H Macy turned her around, as did having a family. `After I had my children, I have to say I like my body a whole lot better. I can actually eat and say, 'yes, I'm a size 6 or size 8', and that's kind of hard to say for Hollywood, that's big.?
Top treat: The mum-of-two loves pizza and ice cream, as well as co-star Teri Hatcher's homemade cookies. 'Everyone loves when she brings in her baked goods and she does it pretty often, too.'
Jennifer Aniston
Jen, 37, has admitted she took dieting too far in the past, dangerously cutting out all carbohydrates. Once a fan of the Atkins regime, she has replaced fad diets with a simple mix of healthy eating - but still doesn't touch alcohol or coffee.
Natural body shape: Lean but feminine
Workout: Practising ancient martial art Budokon, which combines fighting skills, hatha yoga and medititation.Daily diet: Combines carbs with chicken or fish and healthy fats like nuts or olive oil. Jen grills food instead of frying and tries to stick to small portions as well as plenty of salad.
Food outlook: Enjoying cosy meals with new beau Vince Vaughn has helped Jen get over her previously strict regime. 'Now I eat plenty,' she smiles. 'I eat anything I want within reason. I work out but I don't go crazy, I'm just healthy.' Her main beauty tip now is drinking lots and lots of water.
Top treat: 'I am a creature of habit. I like Italian food. Or Mexican food.' The former Friend also has a penchant for cheese, especially Pecorino cheese, which is made from sheep's milk.
