Hungry Hollywood
Drew Barrymore
Drew only started exercising last year when she turned 30 but has a balanced approach to food. A terrible cook by her own admission, she loves eating out. 'I love all types of food: Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Italian.' Fun-loving Drew still enjoys a drink, especially red wine.
Natural body shape: Small and slim: 'I'm like a corgi - I have very short legs.'
Daily diet: She eats loads of organic fruit and veg, sticking to three meals a day.
Workout: Swimming, jogging, yoga, dancing... Drew isn't fussy about what gets her hot! 'It doesn't matter how you raise a sweat, so long as you have fun doing it,' she advises.
Food outlook: The child star of ET used to be a full vegetarian. 'I was living on carbs,' she says. 'Now I eat more protein. I don't eat a ton of meat but if my body needs some then I'll eat it.'
Top treat: Creamy pasta dishes. 'I think, 'I ran today, I can have the fettucine alfredo.' You heard me, cream and carbs! If I want that pasta, I'm gonna have it.' She also loves jelly.
Reese Witherspooon
The Southern belle and mum-of-two says she often finds it a chore to fit in enough exercise. Like many stars, the fear of having to wear a bikini in Legally Blonde made 29-year-old Reese trim down after giving birth to daughter Ava but she is now content as she is. She also puts the success if her marriage to actor Ryan Phillipe down to 'being able to cook a really good meal.'
Natural body shape: Petite but curvy
Workout: Walking her dogs, and a regular workout which she changes every now and then to avoid getting bored.
Daily diet: Reese enjoys healthy wholesome food like casseroles, but understands she can eat pretty much what she wants as long as she gets plenty of exercise.
Food outlook: A well-balanced Reese is keen her kids don't ever get hang-ups about food. She enjoys traditional American food and sees food as a very sociable experience. 'At Christmas, Ryan and I cook a big dinner together and stuff ourselves until we feel sick!' she says.
Top treat: Mashed potato and roast chicken. She also craves posh chocolates; 'My favourite chocolates are Touche - they're from Switzerland - the champagne truffles are the best.'
Salma Hayek
Gaining weight for a new role helped Salma feel more feminine. The 39-year-old piled on the pounds to play a fiery Mexican husband-hunter in Ask the Dust. 'I put on a little bit of weight,' she says. 'Actually I put a lot of weight on but it was okay. Once I got naked with all that weight, I said, 'You know what? It's okay.''
Natural body shape: Shapely curves
Daily diet: Small portions of a healthy mix of vegetables and chicken or fish, along with plenty of complex carbs such as brown rice.
Keeps fit by: Walking on the beach or cycling. Salma is not a big fan of gyms or working out. 'The concept of going into a room full of people who are sweating and inhaling their sweat while I'm painfully driving myself into exhaustion...I don't understand it.'
Food outlook: Originally told she would get more work if she lost weight, petite 5'2" Salma has since realised being curvy is sexy. She loves hot chocolate and Mexican dishes, as well as American Thanksgiving dinner. 'Basically I love food,' she laughs, 'and I indulge in all my favourite foods because that is one of my greatest pleasures in life.'
Top treat: Hamburgers - and lots of them. She also loves the occasional Marguerita.
