At 35

What have I learned at 35?
How to love, how to sigh,
How to smile, and how to cry,
Mostly, how to stay alive.

Past darkness shed,
And old selves dead,
Shadows past and
Demon's burned
And mostly this is what I've learned.

So where to now,
With light to guide me.
New horizons, blinker brightly
A happy heart beating fast
But mostly it beats soft and lightly
I now look up, instead of down,
laugh from the belly
And never frown, although I feel
That life can burn
Mostly I just live to learn

And as my years advance through
Time, I count my blessings
And swallow my pride, for never
More will I lose the lesson and find
Myself drowning,
Yelling,
Dying,
Crying,
Sobbing
Hurting,
Bleeding,
Desperate,
Needing.
I am 35 and standing tall,
Which in itself,
with my curvy spine,
Is a wonder,
a miracle,
but I'm standing tall,
So I thank the angels,
They are plentiful and pure
They've played their part
And never will they leave my heart,
For I am 35 and singing,
Laughing,
Smiling,
Dancing,
Swimming,
Stretching
Writing,
Loving,
Needing.
Every day is a new birth,
A re-birth, and a celebration,
I shout to the world,
`Goodbye to fear! Go away!
`For you will have,
`No place here.'
For my higher power,
Whoever, whatever,
Has given me the strength, to see
That despite the wrinkles
And sagging thighs
I'm proud to say I'm 35.
