Johnny found a spider

This poem was written on the Words to Make Your Day message board by a group of members who each wrote 4 lines. The result was a fantastic children's nursery rhyme!

Little Johnny found a spider
and took it to his mam,
but on the way, he lost sight of the critter
as up his sleeve it ran, (cl-lucychangling)
Although at first it tickled,
he soon forgot it was there
until he saw an unusual sight,
that made him stop and stare. (shemy)
It looked so big,
and oh so hairy
(it most definitely wasn't
from the local dairy) (cl-mebluetopaz)
He had never seen
such a creature before,
and he shook like a jelly
in fear and in awe (cl-lucychangling)
His heart was pounding,
his throat felt tight,
little Johnny tried
with all his might (mygally)
To run away,
he must be free
but instead he fell
and grazed his knee(cl-mebluetopaz)
The spider looked up
at Johnny in dismay,
and said, "Why do all the children
always run away? (thrin72)
I am just a little creature
Small, furry and sweet
yet they scream and try to squash me
with their big and clumsy feet (cl-lucychangling)
I eat all the flies
that come into their house,
I make no noise,
and I'm quiet as a mouse. (peddlepusher20032003)
Don't be afraid
Of me today,
Sit here and listen
to what I have to say (mysticyogi)
I may have legs
that scurry and crawl,
but you are big
