How to Use the Play, Pause and Stop Buttons
Once your preferences are set, the next time you click on an iVillage Audio Video link the clip will automatically begin to play. Once the clip is playing, you are able to control the video or audio clip itself.

Depending on your preferred streaming software you set in the preferences tab, there are different controls the software makes available to you.

Choose your preferred streaming software and topic you'd like more information on:

RealPlayer:

  • Play/Pause
  • Stop
  • Volume
  • Fast Forward/Rewind

    Windows Media Player:

  • Play/Pause
  • Stop
  • Mute
  • Fast Forward/Rewind

    RealPlayer
    Play/Pause
When you click on an iVillage Audio Video link and have set RealPlayer as your preferred streaming software, your file will automatically begin to play after it buffers for a short period of time.

If the file does not play automatically, click on the play button to initiate the playing of your selected clip.

At any time while the file is playing, you can click on the pause button. This will stop the video in its current position. To continue playing, click the play button to un-pause the video.

    Stop
If you ever want to stop the video or audio clip simply click on the stop button. Hitting the stop button will end the connection to the file completely.

To play the video again, hit play and this will start the video over from the beginning after a short period of buffering.

    Volume
You can use the volume slider to control the volume of the audio or video clip. To control the volume move the slider.

Using your mouse, move the slider to the right to increase the volume or to the left to decrease the volume.

You can mute the audio or video clip at any time by hitting the mute button. Clicking on this button will cut the volume but allow the clip to continue playing. If you want to hear the clip after pressing mute, simply click the mute button again.

    Fast-Forward/Rewind
You can move the position slider to advance to anywhere in the clip.

    To fast-forward:
With your mouse, hold down the position ball located on the position slider. Moving this to your right will fast-forward the video. Letting go, the file will automatically resume playing from the place where you left the position ball.

    To rewind:
With your mouse, hold down the position ball located on the position slider. Moving this to your left will rewind the video. Letting go, the file will automatically resume playing from the place where you left the position ball.
