O Christmas tree

If there’s anything I pride myself on (bar my beauty prowess) it’s my ability to adorn a Christmas tree. Think baubles, fairy lights, tinsel and ribbons, all set off with a glistening star on top.

In truth, now the Muck mansion has had its festive makeover it’s looking more like Santa’s grotto the closer we get to the big day. But it’s not just baubles that are dangling from the branches this year, there’s a new trend in beauty decorations that’s giving my gorgeous tree some added personality and creative flair.

Not necessarily the first thing you might think of to hang on your tree, whether they’re clever gifts disguised as decorations or simply for show, they certainly make a good talking point when hosting over the festive season and, as an added bonus, it will keep any junior members in the party entertained as they hunt out the special decorations ‘Where’s Wally?’ stylee!

It was Mavala’s Angels (right), £4.10, exclusively at John Lewis, that initially caught my eye. Armed with the power to spot a hint of sparkle at twenty paces, the diddy 50ml bottle of silvery Pure Diamond polish encased in cute angel packaging was all it took for me to snap it up and hook it on the tree. Softly swinging when anyone walks by, unless you look closely you wouldn’t even be able to identify that the angel was indeed an everyday beauty product.

Next have also taken it upon themselves to come up with some tree-friendly trinkets - in the form of a lip gloss bauble (above), £5! Containing a clever open up palette of eight glosses, this is definitely one that works as a stocking filler-come-quirky gift for any beauty loving friends and family you need to play Santa to.

And then there’s Philosophy’s Holiday Ornament Shower Gels (right). In fetching gingham-print cylinders, you can pick from Gingerbread Girl, Peppermint Bark and Snow Angel depending on your colour scheme and preference.

But for me it’s Gwen Stefani’s limited edition Harajuku Lovers ‘Jingle G’ fragrance decoration (left), £11.99 that really takes the biscuit this yuletide. Dressed head to toe in a cute red and white Santa outfit with a red ribbon through her bright blonde hair, this pretty plastic perfume bottle comes with a built in hook so she can swing through the season on your tree. Very fitting with my red and gold theme, I predict this will become a collector’s item in years to come. It will in the Muck household anyway!
