Oh brother where art thou?

All good things must come to an end, and knowing this is the final series of Big Brother has reignited our passion for the former juggernaut of TV scheduling. As the all seeing eye begins to close, we look back on some of our favourite contestants and reveal what happened next...
Craig Phillips
Back in 2000, when watching a group of random people do very little for 24 hours a day was considered a radical concept, cheeky chappy Craig became the first winner of Big Brother.
Displaying a degree of compassion that wouldn't be tolerated nowadays, he famously pledged his entire winnings to paying for life-saving treatment for a family friend.
Craig, a builder by trade, went on to present various DIY shows, he's also started a TV production company and a construction school.
He is George lamb's favourite to win the title of 'Big Brother's Ultimate Champion' in a two week competition which will mark the finale of this last ever series.
Nick Batemen
'Nasty Nick' gave the show's producers the ideal start to their fledgling concept when his underhand vote-rigging tactics caused widespread scandal in the first series.
Indeed, the Financial Times stood alone in being the only national newspaper not to feature his story on the front page when he was booted out for rule breaking.
Unsurprisingly, he did rather well out of his dastardly ways, appearing at various media events, presenting a short-lived TV chat show and in pantomime.
He has worked as a freelance writer and social commentator and hinted he may be back at some point for the last series.
Now married, Nick is the editor of a travel magazine.
Brian Dowling
Arguably the most successful ex-Big Brother contestant, Brian went straight into TV presenting after winning the show in 2001.
He worked on SMTV Live and The Salon among other shows, and has also presented programmes on BBC Radio.
More recently, Brian's been a panto season regular. Hmm...
Kate Lawler
The first female winner of Big Brother, Kate has managed to forge a successful career in TV presenting, and has also appeared on various other reality shows.
She was a DJ on Capital Radio, co-presented a breakfast show on Channel 4 and was a contestant on Celebrity Love Island.
A former WAG - she dated England footballer Jonathan Woodgate for a while - she hit the headlines for running the 2008 marathon clad only in Anne Summers lingerie.
She currently has a primetime show on rock music station Kerrang! radio. We can only wonder what her fellow colleagues make of a former WAG and BB girl playing rock chick...
Stuart Wilson and Michelle Bass
Stuart still lays claim to being the only UK housemate never to have been nominated for eviction.
He is also, almost certainly, one of only two UK housemates to have 'done the deed' live on national television - Michelle being the other.
Their relationship lasted for a year after the show, Michelle going on to become regular Lad's mag material as well as writing a column in the Daily Sport.
Stuart faded into insignificance.
Jon Tickle
Jon had already enjoyed a slice of the big time before appearing on the fourth series of Big Brother, having been a contestant on Blockbusters.
His main selling point was that he was a sad geek but loveable at the same time.
Fitting then, that he should now be the presenter of science show Brainiac.
Helen Adams and Paul Clarke
Another BB couple who would be far too tame and likeable to appear on 'modern day' Big Brothers, Helen and Paul stayed together for five years after their on-screen romance.
After initially looking like forging a career as a celebrity fitness and dance expert with various guest appearances on TV, Helen, who came second to Brian Dowling in 2001, drifted away into obscurity.
Paul Clarke turned up at a few parties and opened a couple of village fetes before going back to being a non-famous person.
Nadia Almada
Cruelly dubbed the Portugeezer by a tabloid newspaper, Nadia became the first transexual to win Big Brother in 2004.
Sadly for her, the popularity she enjoyed in the house did not follow her in the big, wide world and following a really bad effort at a pop song and guest appearances on various TV shows, the work dried up.
In a 2009 interview with Heat Nadia claimed she was writing her memoirs. Yesss! FINALLY!
Alex Sibley
Famed for his obsession with cleanliness during his time in the house, Alex landed a contract with Domestos, reportedly worth £1 million, after the third series.
He also had a relationship with Melanie Hill, a contestant from the first series, but they split up after two years and were subsequently involved in a bitter dispute over who should get custody of their pet dog.
Pete Bennett
After machine-gunning expletives into the ears of 2006 contestants and viewers, Tourettes sufferer Pete won the series, and a place in our hearts.
he endured a bizarre, short-lived relationship with fellow contestant Nikki 'who is she!?' Graham
Pete settled back to pretty much 'normal' life after leaving the show and currently enjoys smaller-scale recognition with his band Pete Bennett & The Love Dogs.
Earlier this year Bennett married his soulmate Cherry in a ceremony which featured on 'Living's' Four Weddings.
