An open letter

You are already such a massive part of our lives. I’m afraid so much is already pinned on you. You are my second chance, the one I never got last time. You are my opportunity to prove that I can do this again and that there is a way to make things right. You are my third time lucky.

You are kicking inside me. You are wriggling and flipping and growing so fast. You are making my belly button pop out and the tops of my toes itch insanely. You are my every waking thought, my every sleeping dream. You are to join your brother and sister to light my darkest hours. You are my third time lucky.

You will make a difference. You will show me, once more, that motherhood is a wonderful journey that I am so lucky to be able to travel. You will show me how to smile, laugh and love. You will bring me joy, happiness and hope. You are my third time lucky.

One day you will know how special you are. You will make a mark on this world, my world and your world. You will make this family compete once more and you will be loved. You are my third time lucky.

You are resting. You are fighting. You are growing and you are waiting. You are my third time lucky.
