Painting a casement window

Tools
Screwdriver, hammer, soft brush, paint shield or masking tape, 25mm paint brush, cutting in paint brush, wood filler, medium-grade abrasive paper, stiff wire, small nails, combined primer/undercoat, top coat paint.
Remove any catches on the sill using a screwdriver. Prepare the surface by lightly sanding over the old paintwork using the abrasive paper. Brush away dust and debris, paying particular attention to the corners. Apply masking tape to the edge of the windows, 2mm in from the frame, so the paint will slightly overlap onto the glass. Paint the window frame using the undercoat, ensuring that you avoid painting the hinges. When the coat has dried, apply the top coat in the same sequence. Window frames often have awkward corners and edges. Ensure that these are evenly coated. Paint the sill last. Remove the masking tape when the paint is completely dry to the touch.
