Red light green light
This is a great game to play outdoors and gets the kids running around
- Ages four and up
- Three or more players needed
- Outdoor activity
- Non-competitive
How to play
- Establish a start and finish line.
- 'It' (usually the birthday child at a party) stands at the finish line. The other players spread out across the start line.
- 'It' shouts 'green light!', turns away from the players and counts out loud from one to ten, during which time the players run towards the finish line.
- When 'it' reaches ten, 'it' shouts 'red light!', and turns back to the players. At the sound of the words 'red light!', the players stop running and freeze.
- 'It' or an adult on the sidelines sends anyone still moving back to the start line.
- 'It' shouts 'green light!' and the game continues until someone reaches the finish line and tags 'it'. The first person to do that is the next 'it'.
