5 easy Halloween costumes for your toddler

  • 4. Spider
  • What you need:

    • Black T-shirt
    • 2 pairs black tights or stockings
    • 3 pairs cheap gloves
    • String
    • Newspaper or other material for stuffing tights
    • Face paint

    Directions:

    1. If using tights, cut them into 2 legs.
    2. Stuff the legs/stockings and sew shut.
    3. Sew the four legs on to the black T-shirt.
    4. Sew two pairs of the gloves on to the extra arms.
    5. Use string to join the arms, so that when your child moves his arm, he moves the other two as well.
    6. Draw six eyes with face paint on your child's forehead and spider 'fangs' on his cheeks.

    5. Scarecrow

    What you need:

    • Flannel shirt
    • Old trousers
    • Rope
    • Plastic shopping bags
    • Straw hat
    • Straw
    • Eyebrow pencil
    • Inexpensive straw hat

    Directions:

    1. Borrow one of dad's flannel shirts.
    2. Use pieces of rope as a belt and to tie at the cuffs of his trousers and sleeves.
    3. Stuff the shirt and pants with plastic grocery bags.
    4. Use a few pieces of straw to stick out of the sleeves and cuffs.
    5. Use an eyebrow pencil to draw the face, making a large smile and triangle shapes around his eyes.
    6. Top off the outfit with an inexpensive straw hat.
