Silent maths practice
This drill keeps children's hands and minds busy for those times when silence is imperative.
What this activity will develop:
Maths skills
What to do:
Teach your child hand signals for all the maths operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and the equals sign. Then use your hands to present maths problems with numbers under 10 by using your fingers for the numbers and the signals for the operations. Have the children signal their answers by using their fingers. When you have demonstrated how to do the activity, let your child lead the practice.
