What this activity will develop:
Maths and thinking skills
What you'll need:
- Dot stickers
- Index cards
- Contact or laminating paper
- Plastic sandwich bag
- Wool
Setting up:
Make a set of cards using various colours of peel-off dots. Some cards should have one dot, others two dots, others three, others four and others five. Write the appropriate numeral on each card. Cover the cards with clear contact paper or laminate them and keep them in a sandwich bag when not in use.
What to do:
On a table where the children will work, form five circles with wool. In each of the circles, place a label card that has one to five dots and the appropriate numeral. Then tell the children to look at each of the cards in the set and sort them by the number of dots on each card. Encourage the children to use the clues on the label cards to determine which cards go in each circle.
