Wool ball toss
Young children will have a ball playing this game and it develops both their motor and visual skills. It is a perfect activity for a rainy day.
Play three rounds of three tosses each and average the scores.
What this activity will develop:
Motor and art skills
What you'll need:
- Thick wool
- Small sheet of cardboard
- Scissors
- Marker
- Peel-off labels
- Five margarine tubs
- Masking tape
- Pencil
- Paper
- Make a wool ball for each player. Wind wool around the cardboard 15 times. Use more wool to tie the strands together in the middle on each side of the cardboard. Then cut the strands on both edges. Fluff the wool ends on both balls.
- Print 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 on labels. Put the labels on the inside bottoms of the margarine tubs.
- Arrange the tubs in a row. Use masking tape to mark a throwing line three feet away from the tubs.
- Players stand behind the throwing line and take turns tossing their balls into a tub.
- After each turn, the player retrieves the ball and checks the point value in the tub. If the ball misses the tubs, the point value is 0.
- Players record their scores. Continue until five or more rounds have been played.
- At the end of the game, add the scores. The player with the most points wins.
Play three rounds of three tosses each and average the scores.
