Pork with ginger

Ingredients

  • 500g (1lb 2oz) thin-cut pork loin steaks
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • sauteed thinly sliced red pepper and mangetout to garnish
  • MARINADE:

  • 50g/2oz fresh root ginger, peeled, grated and squeezed for the juice
  • 4 tbsp Kikkoman soy sauce
Serves: 4 Preparation: 25   Total Time: 25min whats this
 

Directions

  1. Marinade the pork steaks in a non-metallic bowl with the ginger juice, soy sauce and white wine or sake for at least mins.

  2. Heat tbsp of oil in a frying pan and stir fry the onion for mins or until softened. Set aside.

  3. Heat the remaining oil in the same frying pan and fry the pork steaks for mins, turning occasionally. Add the marinade and fry for a further min.

  4. Place the fried onion on a serving plate, top with the pork steaks and drizzle with the sauce. Garnish with sauteed red pepper and mangetout and serve with a bowl of noodles or rice.
