Honey safe for babies?
What effect does feeding honey to a baby have?
The ancient Egyptians were aware of honeys diverse uses and its still well known for its culinary, medicinal and healing properties. Its a food that supplies easy energy, vitamins and trace elements.
However, honey shouldnt be introduced into a babys diet until some time after their first birthday.
It contains a spore that, whilst harmless to adults, can cause a severe form of food poisoning in babies called Botulism. Check with your own GP
or health visitor to get their recommendations about when its safe
to include this food.
