I'm craving unhealthy foods
I am ten weeks pregnant and am craving savoury and sweet food and have completely gone off fruit and most healthy foods. I am already overweight and am becoming worried about the health of my baby and maybe complications at birth. Can you help me?
If you can't face fruit, make yourself drink two glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice every day. Stick watercress or tomatoes in a sandwich or force down a side salad with your evening meal, and think of your baby while you eat it!
It's quite usual to crave savoury or highly spiced food such as Marmite or tinned anchovies. Savoury food should not be much of a problem on the weight front, but you obviously need to keep your intake of sweet things or foods containing sugar under control.
You don't say how overweight you are, but assuming you are not in the 18 stone bracket, there isn't a link with complications at birth and an overweight mother.
