How can I prevent my waters breaking early?

by Christine Hill

question

I have just found out I am pregnant. In my last pregnany my waters broke at 24 weeks and apparently this could have been caused by some kind of infection. I wonder if there is anything I can do to prevent this happening again?

answer

I can understand how anxious you must be, but there is nothing specific that you can do to prevent your waters breaking. But if the hospital thought you could have had an infection at the time, which may have caused this to happen during your last pregnancy, you would be extremely unlucky for the same thing to happen this time round. However, it would seem sensible if you could take things as easy as possible from 24 weeks onwards. I do hope all goes well for you during this pregnancy. Christine Hill.
