Trying to conceive: can you make love too often?
I have heard that while trying to conceive you can have too much sex. Is it true that you can make love too often?
Women, by definition, are only fertile for the few days leading up to ovulation. That is when they produce a wet quality cervical fluid that gradually starts to resemble a man's seminal fluid.
So, around ovulation:
- If the man's sperm count is normal, you should have intercourse every day that you have wet cervical fluid or a wet vaginal sensation.
- If the man's sperm count is low, you should have intercourse every other day that you have wet cervical fluid or a wet vaginal sensation. The reason you should have intercourse less frequently is because men with low sperm counts need the extra day to build up to higher, more fertile levels.
