How long can sperm survive?

by Peg Plumbo

question
How long can sperm survive?

answer
Sperm are generally thought to survive for around 72 hours, but it may be shorter or longer, depending on whether the cervical mucus is hospitable. If the pH of the vagina is hostile during the non-ovulatory part of your cycle, due to an infection or in the presence of a spermicide, sperm may die in minutes and never reach the fallopian tube, where fertilisation usually takes place.

I hope this helps.
