Afraid of being sacked
I think my employer's going to sack me when he finds out that I am pregnant. Can he do that?
It is against the law for your employer to treat you unfairly, dismiss you, or select you for redundancy for any reason connected with pregnancy, childbirth, or maternity leave. You should try to tell your employer that you are pregnant in writing before he guesses.
If your employer guesses that you are pregnant and then dismisses you, it will be harder to prove that the dismissal was pregnancy related. If you are dismissed when you tell your employer that you are pregnant you should get advice quickly because you will need to put in a claim for unfair dismissal and sex discrimination to an employment tribunal.
