Getting ready to walk

by Coram Family Coram Family Logo

question
My daughter is 9 months old and crawling around the house. Should we be thinking of buying a baby walker or a push along trolley to encourage her to walk?

answer
If your daughter is happily mobile with crawling skills, she does not need a baby walker. Watch her carefully, give her space, let her practice and improve her exciting new skills. Get down on the floor with her so that she can crawl to you and all over you. Play pretend crawling, chasing – she will love it.

Your daughter will walk in her own good time, but she may still like a trolley, especially a good solid one that she can fill with wooden bricks and the like. She may also like it as a push along aid, but the trolley will come in for plenty of use as transport when she becomes a confident walker.
