Am I leaking colostrum already?
I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first child and have noticed that I am leaking a slightly cloudy fluid from both nipples. Am I leaking colostrum already?
Yes you are. It is quite normal for your breasts to begin producing colostrum at some point between the fourth and sixth months of pregnancy. However, not all women will leak colostrum: some do and some don't. Either is normal.
You could use 100% cotton nursing pads inside your bra if you find that it leaks through your clothes. In the shower, wash your nipples gently with warm water. Avoid soap, as it can cause dryness or irritation.
